Project@CNR – TEROCODE

TEROCODE (TERahertz Optoelectronics for COmmunication in Difficult Environments).

This 2-years project aims at realizing a point-to-point, portable, wireless communication platform based on innovative solid-state devices capable of building a stable and multi-frequency (2-5 THz and 50-200 GHz) THz link. This system will be used in harsh environments, where visible communications are hindered by the opacity of the atmosphere as a consequence of Rayleigh diffusion. In principle, this technology can address several important industrial environments, both indoors and outdoors, with opacity due to dust, smoke or particulates. The realized prototype will target bitrates in the order of 1 Mbps, with a 5-years perspective of 10 Mbps.
